Amelia Surratt, Carol Kopp and Lee Howard enjoying writing messages on behalf of themselves and the membership of Graves Memorial
It was a dreary, melancholy day in early March, with temperatures in the mid-40s. I’d been staring at a computer screen for at least 8 hours over my work day and was asked to check the mailbox. Creaking my neck and shaking off the frigid air, I donned my husband’s over-sized tennis shoes by the back door and trudged down the driveway. Expecting to see bills and advertisements, I quickly snatched the hoard and jogged back into the warmth of the house.
While cooking dinner, my husband asked, “anything in there?”
“Bills. Bills… Someone wants to contact you about your car’s warranty. Ah, a card! It’s a birthday card. Let’s see…”
I sliced the card open with glee, smiling at the handwritten words of love and kindness. The fact that someone took two seconds to spread love from an open heart made a mundane day into an extraordinary one.
The GMPC Card Ministry needs some help! They meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 2:00pm, and their mission is to send love to members of our church and the community at large. If you’d like to help with this initiative, please contact Carol Kopp or Lee Howard to join in on the fun!
