GMPC would like to share the following note from Ellen and Andy Collins, our missionaries who are based in Thailand, on the passing of Ellen’s mother, Mrs. Sue Harding. Although the current GMPC congregation knows the Collins family, not all of you were here when Ellen’s parents, Dr. Dick and Mrs. Sue, made such an impact on our community and church thirty years ago. In fact, if you scroll down or click on this link to the post from Bill Fulton last week, you’ll see the Harding’s name on an old bulletin from 1997!
They were involved in almost all aspects of GMPC, including choir, teaching, work days, and mostly any church gathering. Dick and Sue had been medical missionaries in Nepal, and they brought a plethora of stories and empathy for all to the community. Dick was the one with the BIG personality, making friends and often asking tough questions, and Sue was the more reserved of the pair with a ready smile and a scholarly mind. GMPC honors the life of Sue, and we celebrate her movement to the Church Triumphant.
Dear friends,
I write to share with you that our mother, Suzanne Ellen Pierce Harding (“Sue”) is now released from the hold of dementia and has entered the freedom and joy of Heaven.
“Clap your hands, all ye people! Shout unto God with a voice of triumph!”
This verse from the Psalms is one that Mom loved to sing to us when we were children. I truly believe that she is clapping, shouting and singing right now… all things she hasn’t been able to do for so long… Finally free, she is rejoicing to be reunited with her beloved husband, and is praising God for the gift of new and everlasting life!
We will be planning a small memorial service in the Spring of 2021, when our family returns to the US from Thailand.
The Collins Family
So many wonderful memories of Sue. Thanks for letting us know of her release from this world and her arrival into the next.
