GMPC Balcony Team
Story Collection Project

Your GMPC Balcony Team invites you to help them collect stories about our church and congregation! Please use the questions below as prompts to share one of your stories about GMPC. You can respond in any way that's most convenient: record your voice, write your story, or speak to a member of the Balcony Team. Tell whatever story you wish, but we encourage you to tell it with gratitude. Every story counts, and we look forward to your response!

  1. Remembering your entire experience at GMPC, when were you most alive, most motivated, and most excited about your involvement? What made it exciting? Who else was involved? What happened? What was your part? Describe how you felt.
  2. What do you value most about our church? What are its best features?
  3. What three wishes do you have for the future of our church?
  4. When did you join this congregation, and what led you to do so? Why have you stayed?
  5. What are the ways in which you have participated? Which ones have you enjoyed the most, and why? The least, and why?
  6. What do you know of this congregation's history (e.g., the events and activities, the people about whom you have heard)?
  7. What is your favorite memory of this congregation?
  8. For what has this congregation stood over the years?
  9. If you were trying to encourage someone to visit our worship, what would you say?
  10. When you think about this congregation fifteen years from now, what comes to mind?

The Balcony Team consists of Amelia Surratt, Anne Price, Boyde Bristow, Linda Williamson, Justin Lockamy, and Jim and Denise Moran. Feel free to contact any of them!

News & Events @GMPC

The YOUTH of GMPC need your help in gathering diapers and/or monetary donations for the Diaper Bank of Sampson County. Sweet Frog of Clinton wants to make a difference in our local community by sponsoring a Diaper Drive Contest among our local churches from July 10th - August 17th. The church that collects the most diapers and the church that collects the most monetary donations will be rewarded with free yogurt for their church youth group, and invited to hold a fundraiser at SweetFrog of Clinton on the date of their choice, earning 25% of all sales from 6 - 9 p.m. (There will be two separate winning churches. The same church cannot win for both categories.) The Youth of GMPC have entered this contest and will collect diapers and monetary donations outside of the sanctuary Sunday, July 31st and Sunday, August 7th & 14th. Diapers and monetary donations may also be dropped off at the church thru August 17th. An average newborn uses 10 diapers daily at a cost of almost $100 monthly. This dollar amount is for only one child! Can you imagine having more children who use diapers? The most critical need for diapers are sizes 4, 5, & 6 but we will gladly accept all sizes and brands! If you have questions please contact any of the GMPC youth or Lou Johnson for more details on this diaper drive for children in our local community.

ACOLYTES NEEDED! Any of our children (grades 3 through 8) who might be interested in serving as an Acolyte during Sunday worship, please contact Brenda Nordin. We hope each child will consider this wonderful opportunity!

Worship Readiness volunteers are needed for the 2016-2017 program year. If you are able to help please contact Lou Johnson at or the office.

CAKES NOT NEEDED AS PUBLISHED IN THE NEWSLETTER. The First Baptist Soup Kitchen will not be held during July and August.
